AUDITIONS

GALAXY THEATER COMPANY announces their rescheduled AUDITIONS for their upcoming festival of comedic one-act plays, STORIES OF LOVE: FALLING IN, FALLING OUT, FALLING OVER!

Auditions, callbacks, rehearsals, and performances will be held at The First Congregational Church of La Grange, located at 100 6th Avenue, La Grange, Illinois 60525.

Auditions:        Tuesday, February 8th, and Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Callbacks:         Thursday, February 10th, 2022, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm (if necessary)
Readthrough:   Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm (subject to change)
Rehearsals:       Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, beginning February 15th, 2022, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm (subject to change)
Performances:  Friday, April 1st, 7:30 pm, Saturday, April 2nd, 7:30 pm, Sunday, April 3rd, 2:30 pm, Friday, April 8th, 7:30 pm,

                          and Saturday, April 9th, 2022, 7:30 pm (five in all, subject to change)

 

The entrance to the theater space is located on East Cossitt Avenue. Enter through beige-colored, windowed, double-doors at the bottom of the stairs/ramp towards the West side of the church. Free covered parking is available in the Public Parking Garage one half block North at 56 6th Avenue.

 

IN THE CARDS

THE STORY:

The top writing team at a greeting card company are quick-witted with rhymes and punchlines, but can they overcome being split up and transferred to e-cards? Will love help find a way to keep everyone laughing?

 

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

CHAD (M/mid-30s-40s): The unofficial leader of the group.
SANDRA (F/mid-20s-40s): She is the romantic of the group.
MO (M/mid-20s-50s): The joke machine.
EDGAR (M/mid-40s-late-50s): For most of the play, he speaks in rhyme as is dedicated to creating the poems for cards. His love for JOYCE moves him to write prose.
JOYCE (F/mid-40s-late-50s): The boss. She is no-nonsense while all the office makes jokes.

 

FISH HAVE FEELINGS TOO

THE STORY:

A rainy night in London, fender bender squabbles, and some aquarium-shaking news. A floppy tale of love and fish. 

 

CAST OF CHARACTERS: (PLEASE NOTE: Those auditioning for British characters must be prepared to use a British accent.)

LILY (F/mid-40s-60s): American.
MEG (F/mid-40s-60s): British.
TOM (M/mid-40s-60s): American, LILY's husband.
PHIL (M/mid-40s-60s): British, MEG's husband.
JEN (F/20s): British, daughter of MEG & PHIL.
BRAD (M/20s): American, son of LILY & TOM.

 

A LOVELY DAY FOR A BOATING TRIP

THE STORY:

The open water, a small rowboat, and a marriage on the brink. Just how far would you trust your spouse? Graham and Gloria both have their own ideas as to how to resolve their dilemma, and a summer afternoon on the ocean is where they each plan to carry them out.

 

CAST OF CHARACTERS:

GLORIA (F/mid-40s-50s): Married to GRAHAM, appreciates the finer things in life and will do anything to keep them.

GRAHAM (M/mid-40s-50s): Married to GLORIA, wealthy, successful, and self-serving.

 

SHAPES AND STANZAS

THE STORY:

Friends, Ronnie and Suzie, meet 3 times across 60 years, exploring poetry, geometry, friendship, romance, and other complicated things.

 

CAST OF CHARACTERS: (PLEASE NOTE: In this play, the same actors will portray the characters at multiple ages.)

SUZIE/SUSAN/SUE (F/Scene 1: 10-12 yrs, Scene 2: mid-30s, Scene 3: late-60s): Scene 1 - An elementary school girl, creative and funny, but a little less “girly” than her classmates. Scene 2 - A writer, creative and funny. Recently published, but still uncertain of where her life is leading. Scene 3 - A nomadic poetess returning home after traveling the world to see what she may have left behind.

RONNIE/RONALD/RON (M/Scene 1: 10-12 yrs, Scene 2: mid-30s, Scene 3: late-60s): Scene 1 - An elementary school boy, shy, but hoping to break out of his shell. Attracted to a popular girl from afar. Scene 2 - A middle school math teacher, has a good sense of humor, but is stuck in a routine and unremarkable life. Scene 3 - A retired math teacher at peace with where life has led him, but pondering the start of a new path.

 

OPEN CALL – NO APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY:

ALL THOSE AUDITIONING MUST SHOW PROOF OF VACCINATION AGAINST CORONAVIRUS. 

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring a list of Conflicts, Resume and, Photo (if possible) for the director. All roles are open. If you cannot make the auditions, but wish to still be considered for a role, please contact us at galaxytheatercompany@gmail.com.
